Lifeskills Offender Corrections

LOC-1 & -2 Workbooks: Designed to be used in groups, led by a facilitator. Like all ACCI workbooks, the focus is on the person, not the crime committed. LOC-1 is a short program for minor misdemeanors while LOC-2 is for problem misdemeanors and minor felons. The LOC-2 is our most popular criminal workbook. For long-term counseling needs, consider our level three, CCLC Workbooks.

Lifeskills Offender Corrections, Level One (LOC-1) is for misdemeanors, age 18 and older. It is 12 to 15 hours of counseling in 9 units on 28 pages. This workbook was specifically designed for short-term counseling. The class can be given as a 12-hour weekend class or one to two units at a time. LOC-1 is an ideal short yet powerful class for minor adult offenders.
Lifeskills Offender Corrections, Level Two (LOC-2) is for misdemeanors and felons, age 18 and older. It is 20 to 25 hours of counseling in 10 units on 60 pages. LOC-2 is a better workbook than LOC-1 because it offers more space and time for discussion. This class can be given one or two units at a time. It is recommended that the class be given at least weekly. This is an ideal program for probationers, work release and day-reporting centers, alcohol and drug treatment centers, prison and jail inmates. For a longer program, see CCLC. This is ACCI's most popular criminal workbook used by many jails, prisons and probation departments. It is for all offenders regardless of their offense.

Community Cognitive Lifeskills Course

CCLC: The Community Cognitive Lifeskills Course is available in three different versions: A, B, & C.
Version A is for criminal offenders. It is, for example, currently being used by the Michigan Department of Correction as a mandated pre-release program.
Version B is for international use; all American references have been removed.
Version C is for non-criminal populations like welfare agencies.

Similar to our youth and drug abuse programs, the CCLC workbooks make use of a form of historical fiction to deliver its message. The workbooks follow real families and individuals (names changed) from research conducted in Kerrville, Texas by Larry Lloyd, the National Director of ACCI.

The CCLC Workbooks, like other of ACCI's workbooks, including the new workbooks for anger management, AMCL/HS, and contentious relationships for divorced or divorcing couples, CRDC/HS, read like historical fiction, based on real life experiences both love stories and tragedies. The stories bring the material to life which further enhances the cognitive experience.

The CCLC is best facilitated in 12 sessions. Each session lasts about 2-1/2 hours. Like all ACCI programs, we have hundreds of testimonials on how this program has helped participants change years of self defeating thoughts and behaviors. See Student Evaluations

The Community Cognitive Lifeskills Course - Criminal Offender Version (CCLC-A) is for all adults, 18 and older. It is 12 units on 110 pages. It is designed to be given once a week for 2-1/2 hours for 12 weeks. This workbook is similar to the YCLC-3 Workbook, except it is designed for adult criminal offenders. Like the other cognitive lifeskills workbooks, this is a powerful life-changing program for people on probation or incarcerated, It is ideal for individuals with low self esteem, poor scripting and those who need anger management. It is the ultimate substance abuse workbook because of its focus on cognitive restructuring and the deep issues underlying substance abuse.
Community Cognitive Lifeskills Course - International (CCLC-B) is for all adults, 18 and older. It is 12 units on 110 pages. This is our CCLC with all "American" references removed to accommodate other English speaking nations. It has its own FWS. It is excellent for welfare moms, domestic violence victims and perpetrators, workforce and all other civic organizations with people who suffer from distorted thinking and need cognitive restructuring. It is also very effective for substance abusers.
The Community Cognitive Lifeskills Course - Non Criminal Version (CCLC-C) is for all adults, 18 and older. It is also 12 units on 110 pages. It is a community cognitive lifeskills program for non criminals. These are powerful workbooks that are changing thousands of lives. This workbook contains new cognitive skills focusing on self deception and validation.

Adult Cognitive Lifeskills Substance Abuse

COGNITIVE LIFESKILLS COURSE FOR ADULTS

ACLSA: The Adult Cognitive Lifeskills Substance Abuse Workbook is unique and unlike traditional substance abuse programs. It uses a blend of cognitive restructuring techniques and traditional substance abuse curriculum.

The ACLSA employs historical fiction as it follows two families, the Millers and the Johnsons. One family is functional, the other dysfunctional. It is a heart warming story based on real people as they struggle to overcome drug addiction and heal as families.

Most substance abuse programs are not effective because they stay on the surface and ignore the deep hurts that cause many to turn to self medication. The first step to recovery is to address those hurts as found in the ACLSA workbook.

Adult Cognitive Lifeskills Substance Abuse (ACLSA) is 8 units on 64 pages. It is similar to the LOC-2, but with a stronger focus on alcohol and drug addictions. This workbook uses historical fiction in that is is based on real people and events, with the stories of two families and their children. This workbook takes a totally different approach because it focuses on the deep emotional reasons for substance abuse. It provides the cognitive skills to help the addicted help themselves. This is a five star substance abuse program that has no equal.

Cognitive Lifeskills Bad Check Workbooks

BAD CHECK WORKBOOK

Bad Check: Bad check writers are opportunists that stay on the fringes of crime. They know how to manipulate the system to their advantage. They know and take advantage of the overworked and paper heavy judicial agencies responsible for check collections. They lie, push, delay and make numerous excuses in an attempt to avoid, void or delay paying off their bad checks.

The advantage of using ACCI’s Bad Check Program will allow you and your agency to take a tough stand against bad check writers by requiring them to attend a bad check class. This disrupts their well-ordered thinking. It throws a psychological monkey-wrench into their mental gears and causes them anxiety and fear. The Bad Check class disrupts and confuses their criminal thinking and acts as a strong deterrent to keep them from repeating.

In Texas, for example, the usual recidivisms rate of 50% for bad check writers was reduced to less than 10% when the Bad Check class was introduced. This is a simple, easy way to control a serious problem. We suggest you make the program self sufficient by charging at least $40 per person for the class.

The Cognitive Lifeskills Bad Check Workbook(CLBC) is designed to be a one day, eight-hour class in nine units on 21 pages. Requiring bad check writers to attend a class is a simple yet very effective way to sharply reduce repeat offenses. Most of the emphasis of this program is on the crime of writing bad checks and little on the skill of balancing checkbooks.

Cognitive Lifeskills Theft Course

The Cognitive Lifeskills Theft Course (CLTC) is 5 units on 24 pages. It is designed to last 6 to 8 hours. It is a short but excellent program designed for shoplifting and other minor theft. It explores the real reasons for this form of theft.

Contentious Relationships for Divorcing(ed) Couples

Contentious Relationships of Divorced or Divorcing Couples for Home Study (CRDC/HS) is 8 units on 60 pages. The workbook was designed with three goals in mind: (1) reduce court dockets through mediation; (2) reduce the harm to children in contentious divorced; and (3) reduce contention between divorcing couples. This workbook was not designed to heal broken marriage/relationships, but if it did that would be a bonus. Also, if every couple planning to get married were required to complete this workbook first, many would not marry because of becoming "self aware" of potential "hidden" problems with their intended mate.

Youth Cognitive Lifeskills Course

YOUTH COGNITIVE LIFESKILLS COURSES
for schools and youth corrections

The Youth Cognitive Lifeskills Course, Levels 1, 2 & 3 has a self directed Training Kit. The kit contains everything you will need to conduct a class. The Games and Activity Supplement (GAS) is filled with additional stories and learning activities that enhance and help students understand the cognitive skills being taught. The YCLC-2 is our most popular workbook.

Cognitive techniques don’t work well on children because they are not yet cognitive. ACCI recommends an age limit of 13. We have observed that you can’t really help children overcome their abuse until they are older.

The YCLC-1, 2 & 3 are for youth ages 13 to 18. All three workbooks are similar except for the number of pages and the time required to complete them. Which workbook is best would depend mostly on time constraints and the needs of students. These are life changing workbooks that can have a permanent effect on youth. It is suggested that group meetings last no more than two hours. Questions? Call us; we are here to help.

The Youth Cognitive Lifeskills Course, Level 1 (YCLC-1) is 6 units on 36 pages. It takes 8 to 10 hours to complete. This would be an ideal program for less serious juvenile offenders and other youth at risk. The Youth Cognitive Lifeskills Course, Level 3 (YCLC-3) is 13 units on 130 pages. It was designed to last one semester; it takes 25 to 30 hours to complete. The YCLC-3 is flexible.
